After just a few hours Microsoft responded with the following letter:
We
would like to begin by thanking you for your support and are thrilled by the anticipation
around Xbox Live in South Africa. The Xbox team is currently working to an international
roll out plan for Xbox Live. We are delighted to let you know that South Africa
is included in this roll out, however we are unable to confirm exact dates for availability
and functionality at this stage.
We commit to keeping you updated as and when we have more information and reassure
you that we 100% committed to bringing Xbox Live to South Africa.

commitment to XBOX 360 gamers
in South Africa, and we appreciate the prompt response
to the petition.
We do however believe that this petition should be kept alive until Xbox live is
launched in South Africa.
