My brother is/was insured at Auto & General. He's car is a write of after an accident and now they rejected the claim. After 3 weeks of looking for a reason not to pay out they called today. The reason for not paying is that he wasn't on my (sister) insurance as a regular driver and they gave him a discounted intallment because they understood that he was insured as a regular driver on my insurance. When you listen to the tape recording when he took out the insurance there is no place where he says that he was insured as a regular driver. He did say that his car was previously insured and that he was on our insurance. They lady said that if they knew that he wasn't insured as the regular driver his installment would have been R20 more than what he paid them the past year. So for R20 per month they don't want to pay anything. We can't complain about the service, because there is no service Auto & General is pathetic and I would do everything in my power to make sure that all people I know and meet who are insured with them change their insurance to Outsurance and also advertise how bad their service is to prevent people from taking up insurance with them. I am so dissappointed. I wish I had the money to help my brother, now he lost everything - No Car No Money and all the time he thought that he's covered and safe from sad situations like this.
