We recently tried to claim third party from auto and general as one of their clients tried to overtake us from the back as we were busy turning onto a dirt road in Ficksburg. (Clearly indicating)Everyone knows that the car at the back should wait till the right turn is completed but this guy tried to overtake at super high speed. When i contacted them with police case number, witnesses and pictures in tact, they told me that according to Free state law it is our fault and if i didn't like it i must sue them. The damage to my car amounted to 98000. I tried to get a lawyer involved but to take on a legal department of that magnitude is almost impossible. The lawyer that we went to see estimated that the legal costs would be around R30000 and that it could take up to two years. Results not guaranteed! I'm am still driving my damaged car with no solution.

After joining Auto & General I heard numerous complaints about them as to not paying claims, it is a bit of a worry, they certainly take your premiums without any trouble. I have yet to find an insurance company without any negatives.
