On Tuesday the 19th of July 2011 I bought a Canon 550D from Woodstock Limited online. I saw their advertisement on a website and contacted them, they responded quickly and gave me a price of R4, 000 for the camera and R230 courier fees. In their advertisement they said that they use FedEx and DHL and that the products are available and ready to courier. Chris Brunton (Australian citizen) said that the camera will be delivered to me overnight and that I will have my camera on the 20th of July 2011. The courier company they used was not FedEx or DHL but a company by the name of Dynamex Services. The camera did not arrive on the promised day and I phoned Chris Brunton and he said that the courier company is under staffed and that I will get my camera at 10:00 on the 21st of July 2011. I received an e-mail on the morning of the 21st that my camera is held at customs in Cape Town and that I have to pay R2, 200 to release the item otherwise there is going to be more costs involved. I phoned Chris and told him that I want to cancel the deal and a reimbursement because of undisclosed costs. If he told me that I have to pay import tax and insurance fees I wouldn’t bought the camera in the first place. Many people have fallen prey by this company on the complaint site: www.hellopeter.com with the similar story. There are many questions like why if the courier company picked up the item from Woodstock Limited in Polokwane according to the online waybill, why is customs in Cape Town involved? Woodstock Limited and Dynamex Services I believe are working together in scamming the citizens of South-Africa. I have not received my money back to date.
